The purpose of this article is to study the effects of improper disposal of needles and syringes by users in the city of Guarulhos. Due to the growth of the population has diabetes, it is clear the importance of studying a subject of this magnitude due to the social impact it can bring to society. Exploratory research was used because it is a little discussed topic and be very specific ends up becoming a case study, and conducted interviews with users. The results showed that approximately 55% of respondents discarded needles and syringes in the trash or had no information on discards it. These results may be useful for the government of Guarulhos create campaigns informing the proper way to conduct proper disposal.
