O INÍCIO DO ENSINO DE TECNOLOGIA NO ESTAO DE SÃO PAULO

This article is based on doctoral work, which deals with the installation of Sorocaba Technology College. The work is a chronology, marked by the revision of journalistic publications of the period analyzed from 1968 to 1975. By the literature review, it aims to spot the first demonstrations for the creation of a new university course, the ideas, the actions of the people involved, the determination of state and federal political forces that influence the decision to, effectively, implement and test in the country, the technology courses. It analyzes the short courses creation needs focused on the work, on the local production arrangements, on the transfer of technology, on the industry internalization, and especially, on the technical needs of the Brazilian industry. It reports the difficulties of acceptance related to the installation of the College of Technology that comes from local leaders and the constant negative reports published by print media. Finally draws a parallel between the socio-economic and industrial development of Sorocaba and region and the installation of the College of Technology, which took place in the same period, showing the evolution of the school and its courses to help the technical needs of the industrial park, which emphasizes the influence of college in the industrial and socio-economic development of the city of Sorocaba and the region.
