O SALÁRIO MÍNIMO FEDERAL E AS FAMÍLIAS BRASILEIRAS: ESTUDO COMPARATIVO DO PODER DE COMPRA NOS ANOS DE 1995 E 2015

Abstract

This article intends to study and demonstrate whether there have been changes in the purchasing power of brazilian families who lived with up to a federal minimum wage, focusing on the years 1995 and 2015. In addition, it intends to view the average spending of brazilian families in each one of those years, that is, compare whether in 2015 people bought more items with a minimum wage compared to 1995 and finally, check if the policies of increases in minimum wages made the purchasing power increase in the years mentioned. Methodologically, the research has a qualitative character, built from bibliographies and socioeconomic data, collected on websites of research institutes and reports, which corroborated the research in relation to the destination of the amounts spent in the periods mentioned. After analyzing the specific objectives of the research and making the comparisons, the following results were reached: there were changes in the purchasing power of people who lived with up to a minimum wage between 1995 and 2015. Finally, it was noticed that the federal increases placed in the In practice, restrained price increases between that period and even the 2015 minimum wage having to account for more consumer goods than the 1995 minimum wage, it stood out. In addition, in 2015, differently from 1995, the internet already characterized new ways of consuming both services, such as content made available on streaming platforms or products sold through e-commerce.
